Advice shop marks Dementia Awareness Week

West Lothian Council's Advice shop recently hosted a vintage themed tea party in support of Dementia Awareness Week.

17 June
Dementia Tea Party

The event at Bathgate Partnership Centre was a great success as people came together for a cup of tea and blether all in order to share information on what we can all do to support friends, family and people in our communities who are living with dementia.

Dementia Awareness Week takes place every June in Scotland. This year, the key theme focused on dementia research and local support.

The council's Advice Shop offer a targeted service for anyone living in West Lothian who has dementia, along with their families and carers.  The staff have all been trained in dementia awareness and the Bathgate Partnership Centre is a dementia friendly building.  For those who cannot come to Bathgate, there are appointments and drop in sessions offered throughout West Lothian and where required a home visit can be arranged.    The service will help customers to access a wide range of other types of support.

If you or your family would like support you can contact the Advice Shop by completing an online form, e-mailing PIMS@westlothian.gov.uk or calling 01506 283000 (option 2).

Additional information can be found elsewhere on the council Older People, Dementia and Other Long Term Conditions
