Every month the Council will host or support events at a local and national level as part of its' commitment to eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and promoting good relations both within its' own workforce and the wider community.
It is hoped the creation of the calendar can help local people celebrate equality and diversity and will help recognise dates of particular relevance in the wider equalities calendar.
Some of the highlights include; National Learning Disability Week; National Carer's week and West Lothian Pride with much more taking place throughout the year.
Deputy leader of West Lothian Council, Kirsteen Sulivan said: "Equality is relevant to us all. We want a West Lothian in which all people and communities have a say in their future and an equal opportunity for health, safety, education, fulfilling work, and a high quality of life.
"The council recognises and values the diverse range of talents, skills, experience and perspectives that exist within society and in our workplace. The proposed Calendar of equalities events for the year ahead will support progress towards ensuring that the council has an engaged, diverse and inclusive workforce and that diversity and inclusion is at the heart of service provision for the public."
More details on activities set to take place throughout the year can be found on the West Lothian Council website.
