The gym has been extended to over 700sqm - double the size of the previous gym and houses over 100 pieces of kit.
The investment made by West Lothian Leisure (WLL) enabled the new space to be created by knocking through into the existing sports hall and connecting the old gym to a new building built within a section of the hall, covering the size of an indoor football court.
The whole gym area has been upgraded with new décor and new Technogym equipment, the official supplier to the Olympic Games. There has been lots of new exciting additions to bring fresh workouts to your training.
• NEW ARTIS Climb - stair climbing
• NEW SKILLMILL - treadmill for athletic performance training
• NEW SKILLROW - rowing machine designed to improve cardio and strength
• NEW Group Cycle Bikes - in the gym and Cycle studio
• EXTENDED Free Weights area with more Lifting Platforms and Benches
• ADDITIONAL Pure Strength Kit including Seated Dip
• LARGER fix resistance ARTIS range
• MORE Cable Stations
• NEW Functional Training Zone including OMNIA 8 and Prowler Sled and Track
Some of the first people to take advantage of the upgraded facilities will be a group of pupils from Bathgate Academy who are gearing up for a unique, artic expedition in Greenland with Bo'ness-based charity the Polar Academy.
A group of twenty students from Bathgate Academy are in the middle of 15 months of extensive training with ten ultimately being chosen to go on the expedition.
The fifteen girls and five boys (all currently in S2 or S3) face tough training with The Polar Academy to ensure all are physically and mentally equipped for the ten day, 100km expedition in Eastern Greenland.
In order to support the group, West Lothian Leisure and West Lothian Council have stepped in to provide them with free membership at Xcite Bathgate meaning they have full use of the new gym facilities as they train for their extreme challenge.
Bathgate Academy Head teacher, Grant Abbot, said: "I am delighted that West Lothian Leisure and West Lothian Council have provided our students with free membership at Xcite Bathgate.
"The new gym facility is fantastic and is an ideal environment for our pupils to get themselves physically ready for what will be a very demanding challenge in Greenland."
Robin Strang Chief Executive of Xcite WLL said:
"It's fantastic to see the benefits of the new gym extension in the local community already! We've had some positive feedback from our customers and it's great to see so many new people joining us. The Polar Academy is an inspiring project giving local S2/3 students an opportunity to boost their confidence, fitness and mental skills. They will be surviving in some of the remotest terrain and we're proud to be able to provide facilities and expert advice from our Xcite Team to help them achieve their goals."
Cindy Brook Chair of Xcite WLL said "WLL is a charity Trust here to help local residents and provide opportunities for all to make healthy lifestyle choices. The new gym extension provides an excellent facility for the local community, young and old to come along and keep active. The fully qualified staff continue to provide great customer service and support to improve locals wellbeing. The investment made by the Trust and our partnership with West Lothian Council is an example why WLL is one of the highest performing Culture and Leisure Trusts in Scotland."

Over the years the venue has established itself at the heart of the Bathgate community and is well attended by the wider West Lothian Community.
