A large number of personal licences for alcohol sales were granted in 2009 for 10 years, so are due to expire on 31 August 2019.
If you are affected and are named as a premises manager (DPM) on a premises licence or you need a personal licence for your job, you will require to renew your licence to continue in that role after 31 August 2019.
All affected licence holders have been written to advising that they need to pass a further training course before making a renewal application. The deadline for receipt of renewal applications is 31 May 2019.
Late applications cannot be accepted and affected licence holders who have not applied to renew by 31 May should be aware that their licences will expire at midnight on 31 August 2019.
To ensure that applications are able to be determined in plenty of time before the licences expire, it is important that training is undertaken very soon and renewal applications are made without delay. Given the numbers involved there may be delays in sourcing training and in the processing of applications.
Premises licence holders also should be checking that the designated premises managers (DPMs) named on their premises licences have applied to renew their licences if required. If the licence of a DPM expires on 31 August, the licence holder will have to nominate a new manager to replace them.
