The process will enable eligible young people to apply for a new Young Scot card via the MyWestLothian portal. Cards for first years are usually administered through schools. It is anticipated that this will still take place during the academic year. New S1s should only use this method of application if you require a card in the short term

The Young Scot National Entitlement Card (NEC) is available free of charge to everyone aged 11 to 26 living in Scotland. The card can grant the holder access to a range of exclusive rewards and discounts, money off travel if you're 16, 17 or 18 and can also be used as a proof of age document. Further information can be found on the Young Scot website

Customers will need to register for a MyWestLothian account in order to be able to apply for their card online. To register for MyWestlothian visit: https://my.westlothian.gov.uk/article/22088/MyWestLothian-Login-Register

Once registered customers should then visit https://getyournec.scot/ to fill out and submit their application for a new Young Scot card.

At this stage customers will require the following to help them progress their application:

  • An email address
  • A device with a camera or a webcam (laptop/tablet/phone)
  • A photocard driving licence OR a passport OR a Yoti account (verified digital identity account)

Please note that photos submitted must meet the required standards or applications will be refused and the process will need to start from the beginning in order to submit a further application. Pupils will also need to be aged 12 or over before they can complete their application online.
