The consultation has been launched to help West Lothian Council ensure that it is ensuring appropriate provision is delivered based on local need in accordance with the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 under which local authorities and education providers are legally responsible for providing free period products to anyone who may require them.
The council hopes to seek the views of all people who may either need to:
•use free products currently;
•use products in the future; or
•collect products on behalf of someone who needs to use products
The aim of the consultation is to identify:
•the premises in which and where in those premises, period products ought to be obtainable free of charge;
•the ways in which product users ought to be able to obtain period products free of charge, and
•the types of period products which ought to be obtainable free of charge
The survey is open until Sunday 12 June and can be completed online via: https://www.westlothian.gov.uk/article/74713/Period-Product-Consultation-May-2022
The findings of the consultation will build further on existing work in West Lothian where free period products have already been made available by the council in education and community facilities and also by West Lothian Leisure who have made free products available in their leisure facilities.
As a thank you for taking part in the consultation, there will be three prizes of vouchers for the Centre in Livingston drawn at random after the deadline dates. Should you wish to be included simply leave your contact details at the end, leave blank if you don't.
