Education Executive agreed a new calendar to ensure all pupils receive the statutory 190 teaching days per year.
It will also allow parents and carers to plan for future childcare and holidays.
Vice-chair of the Education Executive, Councillor Lawrence Fitzpatrick said: "We have consulted widely over the holiday dates for the 2023/24, with parent councils, headteachers and the Local Negotiating Committee for Teacher (LNCT) all asked for their views.
"Whilst it is not possible to suit everyone and accommodate every suggestion, we believe this represents the best possible option for as many teachers, schools and West Lothian families as possible."
Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 15 August 2023, before breaking on Thursday 14 September for a long weekend. School resumes for pupils on Wednesday 20 September, stopping for the October holidays on Friday 6 October.
Schools will welcome pupils back in from Tuesday 17 October until the break for the Christmas holidays on Friday 22 December.
Pupils are back in school on Monday 8 January 2024 until Friday 9 February.  They return to school on Tuesday 20 February until the Easter break starts on Thursday 28 March.
Schools resume on Monday 15 April, until Friday 3 May. Pupils resume on Wednesday 8 May, with one further day closure, which is Monday 20 May for most of West Lothian, except Bathgate Academy cluster schools, which are closed on Monday 3 June, and Linlithgow Academy cluster schools, which are closed on Tuesday 18 June.
Schools then break for the summer holidays on Friday 28 June 2024.
In-service days for staff will take place on Monday 14 August, Tuesday 19 September and Monday 16 October in 2023, and Monday 19 February and Tuesday 7 May in 2024.
