Key handover at Holy Family Primary.

The new school and nursery will welcome its new intake of pupils later this month.

Development partner Hub South East and Tier-1 contractor Morrison Construction, delivered the school on behalf of West Lothian Council.

The new school is part of the £62 million development to build three new schools and secondary school sports facilities for the growing Winchburgh community.  This is West Lothian's largest investment in education facilities.

Andrew McGuire, Executive councillor for Education said: "This is a very exciting time for the local community in Winchburgh and we're delighted to have the buildings completed and handed over to us. This demonstrates West Lothian Council's commitment to improving education and learning facilities for local people.

"The new facilities are first class and the whole community will be very proud of these wonderful facilities. I'd like to thank Morrisons and Hub South East for their excellent work in building these fantastic schools, particularly given the challenges presented during the pandemic.

"Our new schools and Sports Hub have been delivered ahead of schedule and within budget, which is clearly a big achievement, particularly set against the challenges of the past few years.

"We are committed to improving our school estate in West Lothian and enhancing the learning experience for our young people. Winchburgh's population has, and will continue to see, huge growth in the years ahead, and these new facilities will support that growth."

Headteacher Colette Murray added: "The whole school community is delighted with the new school building. The school is first class and the feedback from parents and pupils has been overwhelmingly positive.  The new school term is just around the corner and the facility will certainly enhance the learning experience for current pupils but also for generations to come."

Scott Brown, Project Director for Hub South East, added: "Following the early handover of Winchburgh Academy last month, we are delighted to be marking Holy Family's completion, ahead of schedule, which will allow pupils and staff to begin the 2022/23 academic year in their new primary school.

"This is a fantastic learning facility with a range of flexible spaces that will allow the best possible experiences for young people on their learner journey.

"We're proud to be entrusted to deliver the Winchburgh Schools project, West Lothian Council's largest investment in education, and look forward to handing over the final building in this exciting new campus, Sinclair Academy, in the coming months."

David Ewing, Managing Director of Morrison Construction Building Central, commented: "We have a fantastic track record of delivering excellent educational facilities with West Lothian Council and Hub South East, and are delighted to add to this with the completion of the new Holy Family Primary School.

"Delivering inspirational learning environments is a key part of our strategy in education and we are delighted with the positive feedback the school has received so far."
