The free Threshold exhibition by celebrated landscape artist Richard Hoare will be on display at the Gallery in Linlithgow Burgh Halls from Friday 2 June to Sunday 15 October 2023.
This exhibition features the landscape paintings and drawings of the remote and most westernmost fringe of Europe - the hills of Achill in Mayo and the north-west coast of Scotland.
Richard Hoare has returned to the same remote areas to capture their many personalities in his work, and the powerful presence of place they harbour.
Raised in East Anglia, Richard has been painting since he left school, drawing inspiration from forests around his father's farm. He has also painted landscapes from some of the world's most visually striking locations including America, Argentina, Chile and Japan.
His strong connection to Scotland was cemented through his work with the renowned WASPS and Edinburgh Printmakers creative hubs in Scotland's capital, and his work is held in a number of prestigious public art collections, such as London's Fleet Street, The Bridgeman Art Library and The Lowther Art Collection.
This exhibition is hosted in partnership with Messums Wiltshire and WLC Community Arts.
