The talented musicians took first place in the top Grade 1 category at the World Pipe Championships in Glasgow Green on Saturday 19 August against top pipe bands from Scotland and across the world.
The West Lothian-based band were formed in 1972, and this first time they have achieved the top accolade in the premier pipe band competition.
West Lothian Schools Pipe Band were also celebrating an impressive second place finish in the Novice Juvenile A grade at the championships. This is third time the band have finished second in this category following on from success in 2019 and 2022.
Leader of West Lothian Council Lawrence Fitzpatrick said: "On behalf of the council, I'd like to offer our congratulations to People's Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band on this fantastic achievement.
"To be named the best pipe band in the world for the first time in their 50-year history is a phenomenal achievement.
"it's testament to all the hard work put in by all the band members throughout the season that they have managed to achieve such a high standard.
"I'd also like to congratulate our very own West Lothian Schools Pipe Band for their excellent second place finish in their grade this year. It rounds off a superb season for our fantastic Westies as they continue to hone their skills."
West Lothian Schools Pipe Band pipe major Graham Drummond added: "I am absolutely delighted and so proud of all the pupils in the pipe band.
"They have worked so hard this year and it has been a fantastic end to a very successful season. Just want to thank everyone for their help and support throughout the year. I am already looking forward to 2024 competition season."
