Cllr Kirsteen Sullivan, with Clare Stewart and Michelle Murray from the council’s Community Regeneration Team and a selection of period products.

A wide-range of free single-use period products have been available for a number of years, from venues including schools, sports centres, and other community locations such as food larders.

To enhance this service, West Lothian residents can now order up to three free re-usable products, which can then be collected from any of West Lothian's nine partnerships centres spread across the area or West Lothian Civic Centre in Livingston.

To order your products, please visit Free provision of Period Products and fill in the Re-usable Products Order form under Online Ordering Service, or order directly at Re-usable Products Order form (opens new window).

To launch the new service, Executive councillor for the economy, community empowerment and wealth building Kirsteen Sullivan visited Blackburn Community Food Larder in Blackburn Partnership Centre to see the range of free period products available.

Councillor Kirsteen Sullivan said: "I'm delighted than we are now able to add re-usable period products to the single-use products that are already widely available in West Lothian.

"Many woman and girls now prefer re-usable products for environmental or comfort reasons, so it's great to be able to provide this option for them.

"They are all completely free to anyone in West Lothian without any eligibility criteria, so I would urge anyone who needs them to put an order in."

Ring-fenced funding to ensure a wide range of period products are free and easy to obtain for all resident who require them is provided to local authorities by the Scottish Government, under the Free Period Product Provision Act (2021).
