In total there are 4,646 individual pensioners locally who will benefit from the Pensioner's Christmas Fund.
West Lothian Council has allocate the funding to 72 groups across West Lothian who applied to the fund.
There were two options available to applicants; a grant award (money) or a pre-cooked Christmas dinner. 69 groups applied for a grant award and 3 groups applied to have a dinner.
Leader of West Lothian Council Lawrence Fitzpatrick, said:
"As a proud pensioner myself I know that groups across the county provide such a wide range of social benefits and I'm delighted that the council is able to help so many pensioners in West Lothian this Christmas.
"We have a number of groups in West Lothian who carry out fantastic work with our older people and, despite the huge challenges that the council faces financially, it's great the council can continue to support them in this way."
West Lothian's Older Persons Champion, Councillor Anne McMillan, said: "Thousands of West Lothian pensioners will benefit from this funding this Christmas.
"Special thanks to the council's partners at West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trusts for providing the option of the delivery of cooked meals for those who prefer it.
"I hope everyone involved has a wonderful Christmas meal or event, and best wishes for the festive season."
