WL Schools pipe band accept donation from Highland Games committee

The parents' committee for West Lothian Schools Pipe Band have accepted a £2,704 donation from the West Lothian Highland Games committee.
The difficult decision to stop the highland games due to financial concerns was made in 2022, after the previous events from 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Members of the highland games committee unanimously agreed to give the money left in their accounts to the parents committee for the schools pipe band.
There is a significant cost associated with a pipe band, such as uniform costs and travel expenses for attending competitions.

This donation aims to support the parent and friends of the band, who work hard raising money so they can compete all over Scotland.

Former chair of the West Lothian Highland Games Alex Linkston said: "I'm delighted to hand over this donation to the parents committee of West Lothian Schools Pipe Band.

"West Lothian Highland Games was a community interest company, and we wanted to make sure the funds went a good cause in West Lothian that reflected the spirit of the games."

Julie Zasada from West Lothian Schools Pipe Band parents committee said: "Huge thanks to everyone at West Lothian Highland Games for this generous donation.

"It costs a significant amount to support a pipe band to compete for a season, and this money will make a positive difference to the young West Lothian people in the band and their families."
