West Lothian Council is hosting three information roadshows to support local groups looking to understand Community Asset Transfer (CAT).

Under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015, community organisations can make requests to local authorities, Scottish Ministers and other public bodies, for the transfer of any land or buildings that they feel they could make better use of.

Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Community Development Trust became the first organisation to successfully complete a CAT when they took over the former Eastfield Training Centre in Fauldhouse in 2020, with the Low Port Centre in Linlithgow and St David House in Bathgate also the subject of transfers.

As part of the ongoing Community Centre Review process, a number of local groups are currently considering CAT to allow them to take over their local community facility.

The CAT sessions will be led by council officers and will cover the Community Asset Transfer Policy, Application Process, Support mechanisms and potential benefits of Asset Transfer.

The sessions will take place at:

•    West Lothian Civic Centre, Livingston EH54 6FF, on Monday 17 March at 6.30pm.
•    The Gateway, King Street, Bathgate, EH48 1AX, on Wednesday 19 March at 7pm.
•    Burgh Halls, Linlithgow, EH49 7AH on Monday 24 March at 6.30pm.

Please note that capacity is limited in all three locations. Booking in advance is essential to guarantee a place and organisations are asked to send no more than two representatives if possible.

Further roadshows will be considered if demand is high enough.
