Secondary pupils in all eleven high schools and The Skills Centre at Burnhouse will not be in school on both Monday 31 May and Tuesday 1 June 2021.
All Additional Support Needs (ASN) schools for secondary pupils will be open as normal on these days, with alternative arrangements put in place for these teachers to minimise disruption for pupils.
The Scottish Government previously announced that all secondary teachers should be given an additional two assessment support days, to allow them to engage with the assessment, moderation and quality assurance process required for awarding National Qualifications during this year.
The dates were agreed by the Council's Education Executive, following consultation with Trade Unions and Parent Council Forum.
Executive councillor for education David Dodds said: "With no exams again this year, all National Qualifications grades will be based on teacher assessment.
"The assessment support, in-service days will give our dedicated teaching staff the time out with class they need to understand the new processes for awarding qualifications.
"This will help ensure that our teachers can give fair and consistent grades to all our pupils, using evidence from their work throughout the year."
