All West Lothian Council secondary schools will hold two additional in-service days on Monday 31 May and Tuesday 1 June 2021 to support teachers delivering national qualification assessments.
Council Executive agreed to fund the £6 payment to cover the cost of the meals on those two days, which is estimated help over 2,500 S1 to S6 pupils at a cost of over £15,000.
The move aims to ensure low-income families are able to pay for additional food when pupils are not in school to receive a free meal.
West Lothian Council also maintained support for families eligible for free school meals or clothing grants during periods of home learning by providing meals or payments throughout the pandemic.
