Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.
This year's theme, 'Together We Thrive', celebrates the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth family - 56 independent member countries united by shared values enshrined in the Commonwealth Charter.
Rooted in the principles of family, unity and peace, the theme highlights the importance of fostering strong and connected communities that support and empower their members, enabling meaningful progress.
Taking place this year on Monday 10 March, the event at the civic centre was led by Provost Cathy Muldoon, and included a reading by the Lord-Lieutenant for West Lothian, Ms Moira Niven MBE. A cadet who accompanied the Lord-Lieutenant had the honour of raising the commonwealth flag.
Provost Cathy Muldoon said: "I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the flag raising ceremony to celebrate Commonwealth Day 2025.
"The annual marking of Commonwealth Day serves as a timely reminder of the strength of unity, and highlights how fostering strong and connected communities enables meaningful progress to be made".
