Boundaries Scotland has submitted the final recommendations for Scottish Parliamentary constituencies and regions to Scottish Ministers.
Currently West Lothian is covered by two Scottish Parliamentary constituencies - Almond Valley and Linlithgow.
If approved, these recommendations will see West Lothian split between three Scottish Parliamentary constituencies, which are:
• Almond Valley constituency
• Bathgate constituency
• Falkirk East and Linlithgow constituency
There will also be a change to the regional area with all three of these news constituencies located within the Central Scotland and Lothians West region. Previously, West Lothian Constituencies fell within the Lothian Region.
Subject to approval by the Scottish Parliament, the new constituencies and regions will come into force for the next Scottish Parliamentary election scheduled for 7 May 2026.
Holyrood would continue to have 129 MSPs, but there are changes to 45 of the 73 constituencies and seven of the eight electoral regions. The changes are to reflect population changes. MSPs are being asked to sign off the proposed changes which will change the political map across Scotland.
You can find maps and further details on the new proposed constituencies via the Boundaries Scotland website. See the link in the comments section
*Please note - This does not impact on your council area, this is about constituency areas for the next Scottish Parliament election. These are recommendations put forward by Boundaries Scotland. This is not work undertaken by West Lothian Council.
