The council's Adult Learning team have organised a number of fun family events aimed at getting families outdoors in nature, being creative or staying active.
Please see the list below for more details. All events are for families with children aged 5-11 and each adult can bring up to three children. 
Places are free, but you must register in advance by emailing Jennifer.Gilmour@westlothian.gov.uk as numbers are limited.

 

  • Nature's Story - Wednesday 9 July 1pm, Community Woods and Garden, Polbeth

Take a sensory walk in the woods, noticing the sights, sounds and smells, and learn about living things and habitats. Finish off by creating some nature themed artwork.

 

  • Trees and Plants - Friday 11 July 10am, Community Woods and Garden, Polbeth

Learn key facts about trees and some interesting ways to observe trees and plants. This event will encourage children to observe nature and learn from it. 

 

  • Story Creative - Friday 11 July 10am, Community Woods and Garden, Polbeth.

Use the environment and your imagination to create an adventure. Work with each other and other families, and finish with some art and some group creative writing.

 

  • Adventure Walk - Friday 11 July 1pm, Community Woods and Garden, Polbeth

Find lots of interesting sights to photograph. Bring a camera or digital device then make something fun with the photos. 

 

  • Lego - Tuesday 15 July 10am, Craigshill Community Garden.

Take part in Lego challenges and art and design activities and maybe even make your own Lego man.

 

  • Gardening - Tuesday 15 July 10am, Craigshill Community Garden.

Get involved in a range of activities and learn about the garden.

 

  • Potted Sports - Tuesday 15 July 1pm, Craigshill Community Garden.

Get involved in some sport activities and practice balance, accuracy and speed. This is a great session to let the children burn off some energy.

 

  • Puzzle World - Wednesday 16 July 10am, Craigsfarm Community Hub.

Get involved in puzzles and games at our Puzzle World session. This is great for younger and older children to work together with the adults.
