Map of closure on A70

The stretch of road from Berry Knowe to Ainville Farm (Auchinoon to Halfway House) is set to close from Monday 23 February.

The closure will be from the junction with the B7031 Kirknewton road in the east, to the junction with the B7008 road from Harburn/West Calder in the west, with a signposted diversion will be in place via the above roads and the A71.

Works are programmed to take eight weeks, weather and resources permitting, with an additional four weeks in case they are required in case of inclement weather or unforeseen site constraints.

The closure is required to allow extensive carriageway reconstruction work to be safely carried out. Installation of several road safety measures will also take place within the closure, including high friction surfacing, traffic signs, hazard marker posts, reflective road studs and lining.

Local residents and businesses within the closure section will still have access via the east or western approaches to the closure which will change as the works progress. Users would be encouraged to plan their journey in advance taking due account of the proposed roadworks.

If any businesses or residents require a copy of the working programme, this can be requested via Report a Road Works or Road Marking Issue
