The annual event took place on Monday 9 March 2026 at West Lothian Civic Centre in Livingston, and aims to celebrate the strong links between the 56 equal member countries that make up the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth flag was raised at the Civic Centre as part of a service, which was opened by Provost Cathy Muldoon and included a reading by Vice Lord-Lieutenant for West Lothian, Caroline MacLachlan, and an excellent performance by the West Lothian Council Staff Choir.

Provost Muldoon said: "Thanks to everyone who supported this year's Commonwealth Day event. This year's theme was 'Unlocking opportunities together for a prosperous Commonwealth' which aims to help show the benefits that are possible when we work in partnership with other countries."
