Inveralmond Community High School held its February Expressive Arts Showcase and the school heat of the Scottish Young Musician competition.
The schools' showcase event was an amazing evening of music and dance with a wide range of performances from student musicians and dance groups.
During an evening of entertainment, five pupils took to the stage in a showcase of skill, discipline and aspiration. The competition featured a diverse range of styles and the judges, Mr Shankland and Miss Kennedy were highly impressed with the performances on offer and the performances made the final deliberation incredibly difficult.
Ultimately, it was Elliot who captured the title of Inveralmond Young Musician of the year. He wowed the audience with a brilliant rendition of the jazz standard 'Star Eyes'. His technical precision, expressive phrasing and imaginative improvisation was a masterclass in jazz styling.
All five competitors should be incredibly proud of their hard work. Well done Elliot, Carson, Euan, Rose and Lola.
As the winner of the Young Musician competition, Elliot will now go through to the West Lothian Final, due to be held 23 March.
Inveralmond Community High School Head Teacher, Hamish Shankland said: "Evenings like the Expressive Arts Showcase are a great exhibition of our young people and their amazing talents. I'm really grateful to all the parents, carers and friends of the school who support our young people, and these evenings. The performances were a real testament to the hard work of the young people and the staff who work with them. "
