He is already well-known to the school community after serving as acting Headteacher for the last two years.
Cedarbank provides secondary education for around 100 children with a range of additional support needs from across West Lothian.
Mr Millar has over a quarter of a century of education experience, and first joined West Lothian Council in 2002 as a business education teacher at The James Young High School in Livingston.
The University of the West of Scotland graduate soon moved to become Principal Teacher of Pupil Support at Bathgate Academy in 2007.
He was promoted to Headteacher of the Inclusion and Support Service in 2018, which includes Connolly Campus in Blackburn and The Skills Centre at Burnhouse in Whitburn. Both schools received positive inspection reports under his leadership, with Connolly School Campus also shortlisted as one of the UK Best Alternative Provision Schools in the Times Educational Supplement (TES) Awards in 2021.
The father of two, who enjoys active pursuits such as hill-walking and swimming in his free time, was appointed acting headteacher of Cedarbank School in August 2024.
Cedarbank Headteacher Andrew Millar said: "It has been a huge privilege to have been acting Headteacher of Cedarbank, and I'm delighted to accept the role on a permanent basis.
"I am looking forward to continuing to work with all our learning community to ensure all our young people continue to belong, grow and achieve during their time here."
