Reconnect Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) currently occupy and operate the Regal Theatre in North Bridge Street as a community theatre and arts venue.
The lease currently runs on a year-to-year basis and Reconnect SCIO have requested a new long-term lease to provide them with security of tenure and enable them to pursue external funding to invest in the building and its facilities.
Elected members on Council Executive set to consider the request at their meeting on Tuesday 10 November, with officers recommending that the new long-term lease is granted as it represents best value for the council.
Reconnect SCIO currently operate the Regal Theatre on an entirely self-funding basis, and the proposed new lease would support the long-term future of the property as a community arts venue.
They have successfully operated the Regal Theatre since 2018 and took over Howden Park Centre in 2024.
